On Wednesday, the Universitat de València hosted the Vives Network’s 1st Vives Forum of Healthy Universities Workshop, whose aim was to define a strategic benchmark for healthy and sustainable universities. Attendees discussed which key features the model will include and which methodologies will adopt each university regarding it.

Elena Martínez (vice-principal for Equality, Diversity and Sustainability) and M. Pilar Rueda (delegate of the Principal for Sustainability) inaugurated the event. Afterwards, Andreu Benet (responsible for Healthy Campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and Sílvia Lloveras (head of the Unity for Social Compromise in the Universitat de Girona) presented the healthy campuses project of the universities in the Vives Network.

Actions of the workgroup in the Vives Network of Healthy Universities and meetings like this one facilitate knowledge transfer and an exchange of experiences on the adoption of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle in universities. 12 universities in the Network took part in the meeting: University of Alacant, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Barcelona, University of Balearic Island, University of Girona, Universitat Jaume I, Open University of Catalonia, Universitat Politècnica de València, Pompeu Fabra University, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Universitat de València and University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia.

The project will be continued in a second Vives Forum on December 12 in the Pompeu Fabra University under the title 2nd Workshop of Healthy and Sustainable Universities Strategic Model.
