The University is located is the 28th position worldwide in 'GreenMetric' ranking about sustainability and academic management
The University of Valencia remains first among Spanish universities in the education indicator referring to sustainability and the environment, according to the seventh edition of the 'GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities' of the University of Indonesia. The academic institution is also ranked 28th in the world, in a ranking in which 516 higher education institutions from 74 countries participate.

On a global scale, the University of Valencia has moved from the 152nd position in 2015 to 28th in 2016. Regarding the education indicator, globally occupies the 6th position and remains in the 1st position of Spanish universities. In addition to the improvement achieved on a global scale, it should be noted that this has occurred in a context in which the number of universities evaluated has increased from 407 out of 65 countries to 516 out of 74 countries in the last period analyzed.
'GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities', from the University of Indonesia, is the first and only ranking that measures universities' efforts towards environmental sustainability and environmentally friendly management policies. The objective of contributing to increasing awareness of sustainable development and environmental protection in society. The ranking establishes six categories of indicators and gives each of them a percentage to determine the position in the overall ranking: education (18%), infrastructure (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste management (18%), water use (10%) and transport (18%).
On a global scale, the University of California Davis in the United States ranks first, followed by the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
In the education indicator, the methodology evaluated each center's respect for the environment and sustainability through the courses offered, the funds dedicated to research, the number of publications as well as academic events, the number of student organizations and the existence of a sustainability website.
