The University offers students two subjects of equality and sustainability

The Universitat de València offers all students the possibility of enrolling in two subjects: ‘Bases Científicas y Prácticas de la Sostenibilidad’ y 'Relaciones de género', from 3 to 6 credits respectively. We are talking about a complementary training that is inside the strategic lines of the Universitat de València to train students on topics related to sustainability and equality.

The module 'Bases Científicas y Prácticas de la Sostenibilidad' has already the enrolment open and will be able to be done until 24 January. This course pretends to give students the keys to develop an active, compromised and sustainable citizenship, from the comprehension of Human Rights, environmental respect, social justice and collaborative work. This way, it will provide tools to comprehend the global challenges, question them with critical spirit to then act with responsibility.

The planetary crisis in the 21th century explained from its impact in sustainability is one of the challenges that will be tackled this course. This way, the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) and the 2030Agenda will be studied, stablished tools by the UnitedNations to try to stop the degradation. The goal of the subject is to sensitize students, from the scientific and critical reflection that contributes to explain the social environmental and economic aspects that converge in sustainability, for, later, value solutions and ethic focuses.

Aspects such as respect and the promotion of Human Rights, of Fundamental Rights, of the peace culture and democratic conscience, as well as the basic mechanisms for citizen participation or the respect for environmental sustainability and responsible consuming will be the tackled topics during the course. Furthermore, the subject will give tools to develop aptitudes for the cooperative work and the participation of teams, negotiation abilities and incorporate the cooperation, hard-work, respect values and compromise with the search for quality as identity symbol

On the other hand, with the beginning of the enrolment period, the Universitat de València offers undergraduate students the possibility to course the cross-disciplinary module Gender Relations, a training of 6 recognised credits for participating in university activities.

We are talking about a pioneer initiative in the Spanish university field that promotes the training in equality, gender and feminist. Classes will be taught during the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year (from February to May) in different groups organised by areas or fields of knowledge in the different campus of the UV.

We are talking about an adapted subject to the different degrees of the knowledge areas that the Universitat de València teaches.

In the subject ‘Relaciones de género, ciencia, tecnología y sociedad’ aspects such as analysis of gender in engineering sciences, visibility of women in engineering and sciences or the epistemological critic from the gender perspective of theories and scientific practical classes will be analysed.

‘Relaciones de género, pensamiento, historia y sociedad’ tackles key concepts of analysis of gender in history, philosophy and language, as well as feminism in the history of reflecting and social and politics history.

‘Relaciones de género, salud y sociedad’ is close to the key concepts of analysis of gender in medicine, psychology and health sciences and analysis the inequalities in health and discriminatory behaviour towards women.

Key concepts in the analysis of gender in law, economy, education and social sciences are studied in the subject ‘Relaciones de género, políticas, ciudadanía y sociedad’ that at the same time it unfolds in a group that tackles the Feminist Economic Reflection.
