According to the artistic director and co-author, Pep Sanchis, “the main characters of the stories are not very well known animals that are part of our lives and our closest landscapes; and in this play they are the ones that speak and explain their experiences, fears and hopes”. “We have dared to give them a voice and to imagine what they would think of those strange creatures that take and transform everything to their own interest”, point out the authors.

ASSAIG’s new staging will give the green light to the programme, which will run through June 15 and will be devoted entirely to university theatre and dance.

All performances will start at 7 p.m. at the Matilde Salvador de La Nau hall and the tickets can be booked in advance at La Tenda or on its website. The price is 2 euros per ticket.

Plays, Escena Erasmus and Nau Gran
On may 10, the first play of the Permanent Theatre Workshop will be presented with the collective adaptation of ‘The House of Bernarda Alba’ by Federico García Lorca, ‘Bernarda i nosaltres’ by Eva Zapico, teacher of the workshop. “This play is about women locked up, and we have used it to talk about our own confiments”, she points out.

On the 17th and 18th will be the second University Theatre Festival with the play ‘A Respectable Wedding’ by Bertolt Brecht, directed by professor Jorge Picó.

And on the 24th, 25th and 26th, the theatrical european project Escena Erasmus UV, will premiere its latest play that will be presented soon as part of the tour of ‘The little Europes’, a production of the University of Valencia and the Department of Culture of the Provincial Deputation.

On may 31 and June 1, the Permanent Dance Workshop will be dedicated to the staging ‘Supernova i companyia’, choreographed and directed by the dancer Toni Aparisi, professor of the university group.

On June 7, 8 and 9, the last show will be performed by the group of people over 55 years old. With the title ‘En el principi era el verb - Juan 1:1’ and directed by the professors Tono Berti and Pura Marco, they will perform texts by Shakespeare, Lope, Calderón, Dostoyevski, Brecht, Brossa, Sinisterra, Mayorga and Pessoa.

The theater group Amics de la Nau Gran will close the programme on june 15 with ‘En el Olimpo de los Dioses’ written and directed by Clemente Carrasco. The play is a comedy that tells funny stories of the gods of Olympus through a dozen scenes.
