The University, together with MICOF, creates the Chair for Rational Use of Medicines

The Universitat de València (UV), through its Principal M. Vicenta Mestre, and the Muy Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Farmacéuticos de València (MICOF, Professional Institute of Pharmaceutics of Valencia), through its president, Jaime Giner, joined forces to bring to life the Chair for Rational Use of Medicines. This project will improve the understanding and the promotion of a safe and efficient use of medicines, bringing benefits to the community and to health care in general.

The main goal of this Chair is to promote educational, cultural, research and university extension activities related to the rational use of medicines (RUM), a crucial aspect of health care, as it implies the proper and safe use of medicines by the patients.

Among the planned activities, features a Research Award dedicated to the RUM field, which will be open to participants of the academic community and professionals interested in studying in more detail this important area of knowledge. Additionally, training courses related to different aspects of RUM will be offered, providing a valuable learning opportunity to students and professionals of the sector.

The events organized by the Chair will have a disseminating and educational approach, and will include the participation of renowned experts of the university and business sectors. These sessions will allow the audience to obtain a deeper knowledge of the best practices.

Furthermore, the Chair for Rational Use of Medicines will support research related to this field, which will drive the generation of knowledge and innovation in the area of pharmacy and health care.

To fund these activities, the MICOF has committed to provide an annual funding of €30.000, which will guarantee the success and continuity of this initiative.
