The video contest ‘When I grow up I want to be like...’ organised by the University of Valencia and the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research (Fisabio) is coming to its 6th edition awards gala, this Friday February 10, which is celebrated on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and will take place in the Joan Plaça Auditorium of the Botanical Garden of Valencia.

In this edition, 231 students from 31 educational centres throughout the Valencian Community participated. In total, 48 videos have been submitted to the competition.

It is the sixth edition of this competition, which makes visible the obstacles that women face in the scientific field. The videos with Best Screenplay, Best Audiovisual Production and the most Innovative in the Selection of Characters will be awarded, both in the ESO and Basic Cycle of Professional Training categories on the one hand, and Baccalaureate and Higher Cycle of Professional Training on the other. In addition to these six awards, at the end of the gala the period will be opened so that all people can vote for their favourite video and choose the Audience Award.

Each of the eight prizes has an amount of 2,000 euros (1,000 for the participants and 1,000 for the educational centre) for the acquisition of scientific and/or technological material. The total amount distributed is 16,000 euros.

The gala will be hosted and entertained by Helena González, from Big Van Ciencia, biomedical and science disseminator.

This competition is part of the annual activity plan of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) of the University of Valencia and has the support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECyT) and the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
