The University of Valencia, among the hundred best in the world in six subjects, according to two rankings

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), or Shanghai Ranking by subjects, has confirmed the University of Valencia (UV) among the top 100 in the world in four areas: Remote Sensing (11), Food Science and Technology (23 ), Public Health (51-75 range) and Tourism (51-75). In addition, the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) confirms the institution in the group of the hundred most influential in Food Engineering (35) and Business (84).

The GRAS, updated this week, ranks the 500 best institutions in the world (TOP500) in 54 subjects distributed in 5 areas: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences. It is published by ShanghaiRanking’s Consultancy (which also publishes the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by subject.

In this classification, the University of Valencia especially stands out in the eleventh position worldwide in Remote Sensing (area of José A. Sobrino, King Jaime I Award winner for Environmental Protection in 2019) and in Food Science and Technology, where it is the twenty-third in the world.

At the state level, the institution is first in the two aforementioned subjects, and is within the 1-4 range in Law. In addition, it is second in Clinical Medicine and Public Health, and occupies prominent positions in Physics (2-4), Geography (2-7), Business Administration (3-4), Materials Sciences and Engineering (3-6), Biotechnology (4), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (4), Hospitality and Tourism Management (4). In the whole of Spain, the UV is also in the leading positions in Chemistry (4-5), Medical Technology (4-5), Nanoscience and Technology (4-6), Biomedical Engineering (4-7) and in Biological Sciences (4-8).

The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) develops a world university classification system based on academic results according to the quality and quantity of academic publications. In it, the University of Valencia is among the hundred best in the world in Food Engineering (35) and in Business (84), and is the best in Spain in five subjects: Food Engineering, Business, Economics, Education, as well as in Commerce, Management, Tourism and Services. At the state level, it is also second in Zoology, and third in Environmental Sciences, and Medical and Health Sciences.

The Round University Ranking (RUR), a ranking that measures the performance of 818 universities in 80 countries through 20 indicators, has also been recently updated. In it, the University of Valencia has improved in Natural Sciences and has ranked 139th in the world and 4th in Spain.
