The University of Valencia (UV) has improved its position in the prestigious Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), a ranking of 2,000 universities around the world that measures the overall performance of universities. Thus, in Europe it gains three positions, reaching position 118 and globally it rises to position 288, a better place than in 2020. In addition, the UV continues to be the first Valencian university in the ranking and the fifth in Spain and also advances in research performance five places to position 232 in the world.

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) this week updated the CWUR ranking, which measures the global performance of the 2,000 best universities in the world. Specifically, it is aimed at measuring the quality of education and teaching staff, high-level employability of former students, and research performance without relying on surveys or data provided by universities.

According to this ranking, the best centres in the world are Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University; in Europe the universities of Cambridge, Oxford and the University College of London, while in Spain the top three positions in the ranking are held by the universities of Barcelona, Autonomous of Barcelona and Complutenseof Madrid.

The indicators taken into account for this ranking are Quality of education (25% of the total) or number of students from a university who have won international awards and medals, in relation to the institution’s measure. Also the employability of high level of alumni (25%) or number of students who currently hold management or executive positions; also the research performance (40%), broken down in equal parts in indicators of publications, quality publications, influence and citations of a university. Finally, 10% of the CWUR corresponds to the quality of the teaching staff, valued by the number of personnel who have won important international awards and medals.
