Guillermo Muñoz Matutano, researcher at the Institute of Materials Science (ICMUV) of the University of Valencia (UV), participates this Friday 18 in the LASER (Leonardo Art & Science Evening Rendezvous) debates, a scientific, artistic and informative project that this year analyses the social and economic effects of COVID-19 on the human and terrestrial biospheres, and which is arriving in Valencia for the first time. In this conference in line with the collaboration of the UV Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit, the Polytechnic University of Valencia or the Piratas de la Ciència association also participate.

With the title <NO-ON>: Non-Normalities. Mutations, networks and politics of decolonisation, the panels can be followed by streaming. Muñoz will take part in the third, Quantum Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Massive Data. Terrestrial Approaches, between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. with his perspective on how quantum physics and quantum technologies are revolutionising human understanding and relationships. The expert maintains that there is a growing interest to develop research areas in quantum matters: computing, communication, metrology and simulation. In this context, a new exploitation of quantum characteristics emerges with the arts and humanities as allies, giving rise to new narratives and allowing the exploration of powerful metaphors for critical thinking and the empowerment of communities.

The events will begin at 11.30 AM, with the introduction. The first panel, also in streaming, Archaeology, Science or Fiction. Time to reinterpret and understand science will be from 12 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.; and the third, Tools and resources of interdisciplinarity. Interdisciplinary tools and resources. Caring to the network, to the knowledge and to the media, will be between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

In just one year, our life has drastically changed since that normal pre-pandemic life. Social behaviours, social injustice, economic or gender inequalities, the psychological effects of this stage have yet to be analysed within the human biosphere. But what are the mutations in the terrestrial biosphere? What is its normality? is raised in the debate.

LASER Leonardo is a program of international meetings that bring together artists, scientists, humanists and technologists for informal presentations, performances and conversations with the general public from more than 40 cities around the world. Its mission is to foster contribution to the cultural environment of a region through interdisciplinary dialogue and opportunities for community building. The director of the project Laser Nomad is Luca Forcucci.
