The Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió comes back this year during the last four months of the course by opening up the enrolment process until the 20th of February for those who want to be a part of it. The placement test, on the 21st of February, is very simple. It will consist in the interpretation of a 10 minute musical piece. Rehearsals will take place every Thursday until May 23th, under the direction of Juan Ramón Martí i Chulià.

The Colla was born in 2016 with the purpose of being a steady, representative and innovative association in the field of traditional music. This has always been carried out from an educational point of view. The principal objective of the creation of the Colla is to improve the training of the University of Valencia students in the interpretation of traditional Valencian music.

This collas (groups) have their origins in the beginning of the 20th century, when it was usual to listen the music of a dolçaina on a small town street, accompanied by a tabalet, playing old and new melodies. The dolçaina players began to disappear until the seventies, when a wave of new young dolçaina players took the initiative by creating a network of traditional music schools. Now, the University of Valencia joins the tendency by setting the Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió in motion.

The rehearsals, from February 21st to May 24th, will take place every Thursday, from 18:00 to 19:00, at the Sala Sanchis Guarner, Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication (Blasco Ibáñez 32, Valencia).

Pre-enrolment, which will be open until February 20, anticipates the devolution of the enrolment price for those who want to take part in this traditional yet innovative project and attend 80% of the scheduled activities.
