The UV makes the first delivery of the material to Generalitat: 100,000 gloves, 10,000 masks, and 2,400 disposable surgical gowns

On Tuesday 17 March, the Universitat de València delivered the material to the Valencian government (Generalitat Valenciana) against the COVID-19 pandemic. The resources belong to the Lluís Alcanyís Foundation, which manages a network of the UV clinics.

To contribute to proper functioning of the Public Health System in the state of emergency, the Universitat de València has been at disposal of the Valencian government (Generalitat Valenciana) since the first days of the crisis.

Before the Spanish Royal Decree was published declaring a state of emergency, the Principal of the Universitat de València, María Vicenta Mestre, contacted the President of Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, to put at their disposal the buildings, parking lots, facilities, and equipment of the university (more information can be found in the UVNews section following the link: http://links.uv.es/w6vIYYH).

Moreover, on Monday 16 March, the BOE provision as of 15 March (http://links.uv.es/fnyu85e) required the Spanish Ministry of Health to provide information on certain products. In accordance with this provision, the Universitat de València communicated to the Spanish Ministry of Health the availability of its structures, including the university clinics manages by Lluís Alcanyís Foundation: 219,000 nitrile gloves, more than 17,000 masks, 3,285 hospital gowns, and 317 litres of rubbing alcohol (complete article can be found in UVNews following the link: http://links.uv.es/fU2Vh69).

On Tuesday 17 March, upon the petition of the Valencian government, the UV Vice-Principal for Research, Carlos Hermenegildo, acting as a coordinator of this transaction, and the director of the Lluís Alcanyís Foundation, professor José Manuel Almerich, delivered a total of 100,000 gloves, 10,000 masks, and 2,400 disposable surgical gowns, among others, which belonged to Lluís Alcanyís Foundation. Forming a part of the public institutional sector of the Universitat de València, this Foundation manages the UV Clinics.

The Principal of the Universitat de València, María Vicenta Mestre, highlighted the effort and cooperation of the centres, institutes, services, and foundations of the university to collect the material fast.

Meanwhile, the regional Valencian minister of the Public Health, Ana Barceló, expressed her gratitude to the principal for collaboration and contribution of the Universitat de València in the times of sanitary crisis.
