UV wins universities’ first place in the Taekwondo CADU

On 29 November, the Taekwondo Regional University Sports Championship (CADU, from Spanish Campeonato Autonómico de Deporte Universitario) brought together eight Valencian universities at Finestrat's sports hall, in a day organised by the University of Alicante. After an afternoon full of combats and poomsae, the UV won the universities’ first place, followed by the UPV and the UJI.

The competition began at 4:00pm, after the weigh-in and the accreditations that took place at noon. The winner was the best of three rounds and they were distributed on 4 tatami mats: one for poomsae and three for combats. In all, UV athletes won 9 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals, in the different combat and poomsae categories.

Final classification of universities

UV won the first place of universities, followed by the Universitat Politècnica de València in the second place and with the Universitat Jaume I in the third place. The medal ceremony was held by the director of the Sports Service of the UA, Rafael García Juan, and by the competition technician, Jesús Villar Notario. The university trophies were awarded at the end o the day, with the presence of the councillor for Sports of the City Council of Finestrat, Beatriz Quintillan Martínez.
