València holds for the first time the annually meeting of communication departments of Spanish universities

The Universitat de València has held for the first time the annually meeting of communication departments of Spanish universities. Around fifty professionals from different Spanish regions had met in this event foster by Asociación de Profesionales de Gabientes de Comunicación de las Universidades españolas públicas y privadas (AUGAC, Association of Communication Departments Professionals of Spanish public and private Universities) adn organised by Universitat de València with the slogan ‘Nuevos escenarios para la comunicación universitaria, metamorfosis digital y revolución feminista’ (New scenarios for university communication, digital metamorphosis and feminist revolution).

During the open ceremony at Centre Cultural La Nau, the vice-Principal for Strategy, Quality and Information Technologies, Joaquín Aldás, has thanked the work of communication professionals that work in universities: “Without you, we only have data. We have to thank the work done by the university communication departments, where the information is collected and transformed into news to convert the content sometimes complex, in easier formats for society”.

From AUGAC, its President, Pedro Ugarte has thanked to Universitat de València the co-organisation of the event for “the welcome and hospitality”, and he has pointed out the importance of sessions that allow to share experiences to professionals that develops the same job beyond the communication held by telematics resources.

Joan Enric Úbeda, Head of the Bureau of the Principal, Marketing and Institutional Communication, that has hosted the event, has highlighted the importance of facing the challenges of institutional communication in the digital context as well as the incorporation of ethos such as equality in the communication. He has also expressed the satisfaction of the Universitat of organising this meeting the same year as their 520 anniversary of Universitat de València foundation and the 20 anniversary of comprehensive refurbishment of its historical base, La Nau and its transformation into cultural centre.

During two days, professionals working in services or areas of institutional communication and press offices at universities and research centres will tackle, on the one hand, the direction of communication in the face of the phenomenon of digitalisation with the limits and implications it entails; and, on the other, the role of university communication in the feminist revolution will be analysed. The conferences, round tables and workshops will take place at the Universitat de València: at the Centre Cultural La Nau (Thursday 6th November) and at the Universitat de València’s Audiovisual Workshop (Friday 7th November).

The conference has the collaboration of the tourism areas of Ajuntament de Valencia and Diputación de Valencia. Among the participants, it can be highlighted the presence of Professors, journalists of different institutions, Directors of social media (Levante-EMV, La Marea...) and the deputy director of Canal 44 of University of Guadalajara (Mexico), John Ospina.
