The Women’s Legacy Erasmus + Project presents the results of its activity at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía.

Helena Rausell, Vice-principal of Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies, and Ester Alba, Vice-principal of Culture and Society have represented the Universitat de València in an event attended by the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and the Regional Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Vicent Marzá.

Throughout the morning of Friday 6 of May, at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia at the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències of València, the people responsible for the Women’s Legacy Project presented the results of their activity in front of a very large audience. In addition to the President and the Regional Minister, various people of different levels of the autonomous administration were present.

This project is a very strong commitment to equality between the various institutions involved. It is promoted with Erasmus Funds from the European Union, and aims, on the one hand to gain visibility for the work and, cultural and artistic contributions of women throughout history and, on the other hand, to provide educational tools for secondary education students and for those studying the Master's Degree in Education.

The initiative, which bring together schools and institutions from Spain, The United Kingdom, Italy and Lithuania, has elaborated three catalogues -musical, literary and artistic, respectively- of works by women, and has made some of their resources available to anyone interested. One of its main objectives is to encourage STEM vocations among female students, so it has set up a permanent training course. It is about incorporating a perspective that takes into account the female contributions not only in specific days as the Day of Women and Science, but continuously.

In their speeches, the Vice-principals Helena Rausell and Ester Alba, highlighted the importance and success of the project, as well as the success of linking centres and people of different countries, claiming the necessary task of making women visible in order to counteract centuries of male hegemony, and mentioning other University initiatives that seek to promote equality between men and women.
