Yayo Herrero speaks today in the University about ‘Miradas ecofeministas para revertir la guerra contra la tierra y los cuerpos’

Activist ecofeminist Yayo Herrero starts today Tuesday 24 April a series of lectures organised by Feminist Economics Chair of the Universitat de València. The speech ‘Miradas ecofeministas para revertir la guerra contra la tierra y los cuerpos’ will start at 18 h in the La Nau Cultural Centre.

Yayo Herrero, graduated in Social and Cultural Anthropology, agricultural technical engineer and graduated in Social Education, is recognised activist of the Spanish and European environmentalism, and her presence is increasingly required in spaces of social and political debate about the current climate crisis. Herrero complaints how capitalist structures increase the consequences of a climate change, which is now irreversible.

Yayo Herrero has been Spanish coordinator of Ecologistas en Acción, and has participated in many social initiatives about promotion of human rights and social ecology. Currently she is professor in the UNED.

The Feminist Economics Chair promotes, among other activities, dissemination and transfer of feminist economics, has designed the space for reflection with civil society 'Fem Economia Feminista en La Nau'.

In this space they pretend to analyse the root of the aches resulting by the current socioeconomic model. Moreover, gender inequality and women work within households as adjustment mechanism of an economic system inequality generator will be emphasized.

Thereby, through the three conferences of this series, the conflict capital-life will be analysed in depth, which is located at the base of this system.

Feminist economics, with its transformative potential, can give the key to mitigate the effects of the multiple and varied crisis in short term. Moreover, in long term, it would achieve a life that is worthy of living for all.
