Youth Chair organises a conference on socio-educational accompaniment for adolescents and young people

On 25 May, in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Psychology, the University of Valencia will host a conference that aims to define and establish the basis of accompaniment for young people as a tool to assist in their emotional and cognitive development.

The event will begin at 9:15 with a presentation byRosa Donat Beneito, vice-principal for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer at the UV, María Gloria Muñoz Ventura, representative of the Valencian Youth Institute of the Vice-principal, andPaz Viguer Seguí, head of theYouth Chairof the Universitat de València

There will be a panel discussion with the title ‘What does accompaniment mean?’, which will be moderated by professor Ariadna Fernàndez (Universitat Politècnica de València). Asun Llena (Universitat de Barcelona), María Ferrer (Commonwealth of la Safor) and Puala Malonda will discuss how to narrow down the concept of accompaniment in youth education. They will define the boundaries of action with respect to this type of communication and listening where the adolescent is given a voice and the space to turn their difficulties into opportunities for learning and growth.

At 11:30, the conference will continue with a discussion of experiences moderated by Roberto Pescador, head of the Youth Plan Office in the Barcelona Provincial Council. This segment will be dedicated to the sharing of initiatives, such as the socio-educational intervention program in Irún, theArrela’tproject in Amposta, or the activities developed by theÀgora Juvenil Bellreguardcollective and the Valencian Federation of Youth Houses.

The event will end with a workshop for those in the audience interested in including socio-educational accompaniment in their projects. It will consist of a collaborative analysis of different projects provided by the participants within the scope of socio-educational accompaniment.

This conference was organised by the Youth Chair ofUniversitat de Valènciaand theValencian Youth Institute (IVAJ), in collaboration with theFaculty of Psychology and Speech therapyat the UV, theLanguages and Language Policy Serviceof the UV, theAssociation of Youth Professionals of the Valencian Community (APJCV)and theOfficial College of Social Educators of the CV.
