The University of Valencia (UV) ranks second in Spain in Law, a position to which it has climbed from section 5-6 in 2018, according to the Times Higher Education ranking for social science subjects. It is only surpassed by the Complutense University of Madrid, while the third one is the University of Barcelona. The classification, updated this week, certifies that the Valencian institution is in the range of the 101-125 best in the world compared to position 151 in 2018.

In addition, in social sciences, UV has also improved, and is located in the 7-13 range of Spain and 401-500 worldwide. Last year it was located on section 14-22 and 501-600, respectively. In both cases, Law and Social Sciences, UV is the first centre of the Valencian Public University System.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, founded in 2004, provides a classification of the best universities in the world, assessed through teaching, research, citations, the international perspective, reputation and income of the industry. In the subject classification, it is based on the same 13 performance indicators of the world ranking, but the methodology has been recalibrated to individually adapt it to each field.

The Law School of the University of Valencia currently offers undergraduate studies in the fields of Law, Political Science and Public Administration, and Criminology and Security. Its training offer is complemented by eleven official master’s degrees, a doctoral program with eleven different lines of research, and a large number of courses and graduate programs. In addition, it has a strong international presence through the High Performance group, double degree programs and several student mobility and teaching staff programs.

In the other two subjects updated in the THE by subject, Economics and Business and Education ranking, the University of Valencia, on a global scale, is in positions (401-500) and (401+), the same as in the year 2018.

The indicators used by this ranking are education (30%), research (30%), citations (27.5%), industry revenues (5%) and international perspective (7.5%). Elsevier – Scopus is the provider of the bibliometric data.
