Professor Roy J. Glauber (born in 1925) currently holds the Mallinckrodt chair of the University of Harvard (USA). He was awarded by the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences with the Nobel Prize of Physics in 2005 because of his contribution to the Quantum theory of the optical coherence. The Swedish Academy has defined him as the "father of Quantum Optics". In1963 he published three articles essential to physics that accumulate more than six thousand scientific mentions.
