The Investiture Ceremony of Honorary Degree is a Solemn Act that takes place at the Main Hall of the University of Valencia, a room built in the 17th century and renovated in 1869 which is located in the historic building "La Nau", heir of the original building of the General Study of Valencia, built by Pere Compte and Pere Bèrnia in 1498, in the heart of the city of Valencia.

For this purpose, the committee formed by the teaching staff, members of the Governing Council and the Executive Council, dressed in academic attire, formed in the former Office of the Principal of the bulding, to go, down the stairs to the lower Cloister building, which is crossed in academic procession to enter the Main Hall.

Once inside, the University Choir performs the hymn "Veni Creator", then the session is opened, with the permission of the Principal to the attendees to sit and put on with the academic mortarboard in the case of the teaching staff.

It is the Principal who orders the Academic Committee of Teachers designated for the purpose to go in search of the vested, waiting outside the room.

The Ceremony begins at this moment, in which the Act of Agreement Awarding Honoris Causa is read, proceeds to Laudation by the teacher designated for that purpose and, at the height of the ceremony, the Principal proceeds to the investiture of the Doctor, giving him the elements that symbolise this degree: first the Laureate Mortarboard, then the Wisdom Ring, afterwards the white gloves and the Book of Science, as well as the Certificate that proves our new academic condition.

After the investiture, the new Doctor will read his/her speech from the chair, to which they will be accompanied by the master of ceremonies and his/her ceremonies and benefactors.

At the end of his/her speech, and after the intervention of the Principal, the University Choir performs the hymn 'Gaudeamus Igitur', at the end of which the Principal closes the session and the procession leaves the room flanked by the members of the University Choir.

All the Investiture Ceremonies of Honorary Degree are broadcast live by the University of Valencia through its website.
