Mar Ferrer Suay has a degree in Biology from the University of Valencia (2004-2009). She obtained a PhD in Biodiversity from the University of Barcelona with International Mention (2010-2014). She has completed three Master's degrees: in Biodiversity: conservation and evolution (2009-2010, UV), in Pest Control and Management (2015, UV) and in Secondary Education Teaching (2018-2019, UV). She was a postdoctoral researcher at the “American Museum of Natural History” (2016, New York, USA) and Juan de la Cierva-Formación at the University of Valencia (2016-2018). She is specialist of the Charipinae subfamily, small wasps that act as hyperparasitoids of aphids and cause serious problems in biological control programs. She has completed eight predoctoral stays. She has described more than 50 species new to science and established a multitude of trophic relationships. She currently has a recognized six-year period of research and is PI of a Project of the Generalitat Valenciana focused on the use of molecular markers to define the limits between species and resolve the phylogeny of the group. She teaches in the Biology Degree and in the Master of Biodiversity: Conservation and Evolution, of which she is also a member of the Academic Commission. She is also co-director of the Master's Degree in Pest Control and Management. She participates in activities such as BioGrau, External Practices, Biology Olympiads, Motivem and Projecte Natura. |

Summary: I obtained my PhD in Marine Sciences (University of Alicante, 2014) and have since built an interdisciplinary profile in zoology that integrates, marine parasitology, biological oceanography and advanced statistical analysis. My research combines morphological, molecular, and quantitative approaches to characterise the diversity, transmission pathways and ecological relevance of parasites, pathogens and epibionts in mesozooplankton communities, and to understand how these symbiotic interactions respond to oceanographic variability in coastal and upwelling systems. During my predoctoral stage (JAE-CSIC competitive My career also includes national and international mobility in leading research institutions, strengthening my research independence, my integration into multidisciplinary teams, and the consolidation of long-term collaborations in Europe and Latin America. Throughout my trajectory, I have combined research in marine parasitology, plankton ecology, aquaculture, and vertebrate palaeontology. These thematic shifts, linked to opportunities in different institutions, retain a strong zoological coherence based on the comparative study of morphology, ecology, and organism–environment interactions. Palaeontology strengthened my morpho-functional analytical skills, while aquaculture allowed me to apply zoological principles to living organisms and real challenges in sustainability and food security. This versatility has enriched my methodological and conceptual approach to contemporary marine parasitology. Contribution to society. My research has direct relevance for aquaculture, coastal environmental management, and marine sustainability. I have collaborated with public institutions and the productive sector in Ecuador to improve farming practices, assess sanitary risks, and support responsible aquaculture development. I maintain an active commitment to outreach through symposia, Expociencia, seminars, and public engagement activities. Training and mentorship. I have accumulated around 2,000 hours of university teaching in invertebrate and vertebrate zoology, malacology, and aquatic animal pathology. I have supervised four BSc Other contributions. I am a reviewer for Aquaculture Environment Interactions and a member of the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, contributing to institutional initiatives on inclusion and gender perspective. PhD in Biological Sciences (with extraordinary award) and Full Professor of Zoology in the University of Valencia. He has more than 40 years of experience as Professor of Zoology and Animal Parasitology, having taught courses and conferences in a large number of European and American academic institutions. For 20 years, he has directed the European Seminars on Marine Mammal, Biology and Conservation at the Menéndez Pelayo International University. In his research career, on marine resources, he has carried out 58 R&D projects and competitive contracts in different countries of the world , whose results have been reflected in more than 300 publications in the form of chapters of books and scientific articles and 10 publications of scientific divulgation. In recent years, his work has focused on the biology of parasites and their impact on aquaculture and wild populations of fish and other marine vertebrates (such as cetaceans and sea turtles), as well as the study of the impacts of human activities on marine fauna and, especially, in the context of global change following an "One Health" approach. His knowledge transfer activities have led him to develop 55 agreements or collaboration contracts with different regional, national and international institutions, as well as national and foreign companies. J. Tomás, has been participating in national and European projects on sea turtle and cetacean conservation since 1995; having worked with 6 of the 7 sea turtle species in studies on nesting beaches, feeding ecology, parasitology, migratory behaviour, genetics, anthropogenic threats, and interaction of these species with fisheries in Spain and other countries: Cyprus, Costa Rica, Equatorial Guinea, Greece, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Cameroon. JT is author and co-author of more than 90 scientific publications, about 200 communications presented at conferences, several books, book chapters and informative publications, most of them on sea turtles. JT has been a member of the IUCN Marine Turtle Specialist Group since 2004 and was an elected member of the Board of Directors (2012-2015), Nomination Committee (2017-2021), and Award Committee (2022-present, chair from 2024) of the International Sea Turtle Society. He has participated in more than 30 projects and contracts for research and conservation of sea turtles and other threatened marine vertebrates, such as the project “Cambios a largo plazo en la abundancia poblacional y Ecología de la tortuga boba (Caretta caretta) en el Mediterráneo occidental” (CGL2011-30413 Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. Plan Nacional I+D+I 2008-2011) for the years 2012-2014, or the European projects INDICIT (2017-2019) and INDICIT II (2019-2022) on the use of sea turtles and biota as an indicator of the level of marine pollution, the MEDSEALITTER project (Interreg EU), and the LIFE-MEDTURTLES project (2019-2024). Teaching Cristina is a professor in the Department of Zoology at the UV. She has taught in the degrees of: Biology, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, and Chemistry; and the Master's Biodiversity: Conservation and Evolution. Cristina has also been a professor at TUM (Germany) and ETH Zurich. Research Cristina investigates parasite communities.
