Plant facilitation, biodiversity and ecosystem
functioning

The FACILITÓN
project, funded by the Prometeo program of the Generalitat Valenciana, is aimed
to integrate the niche-expansion effect of facilitation across biological
domains (prokaryotes and eukaryotes), including climate change, biodiversity
maintenance and the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem
functioning. We specifically hypothesize that facilitation maintains
biodiversity and ecosystem functions at the cost of increasing climatic debt.
WP1. Estimation of
climatic disequilibrium driven by facilitation
WP2. Estimation of
functional and phylogenetic constraints in the rewiring of facilitation
interactions
WP3. Estimation of
the different components of biodiversity across biological domains altered by
facilitation
WP4. Estimation of
ecosystem functions triggered by facilitation
4.1. Facilitation and ecosystem functions performed by plants
4.2. Facilitation and ecosystem functions performed by soil microbiota
4.3. Estimation of the relative contribution of each taxa
to the Biodiversity-Ecosystem Function relationship
