Configuring
MS Windows for
ViSta Applets

Microsoft
Windows 95/98/NT
- Choose
the "Start" menu's Settings/Folders&Icons"
menu item.
- Click
on the "File Types" tab.
- Click
on the "New Type" button. This displays the
"Add New Type" dialog box.
- Enter
the following information in the first three
fields:
- Description
of type: ViSta Applet File
- Associated
Extension: vaf
- Content
Type (MIME): application/x-vista-applet
- Click
on "New" below the "Actions" entry box.
This displays the "New Actions" dialog box.
- On
the first line, type "Load".
- Click
"Browse" and use the dialog box to locate
the ViSta executable.
- Click
"OK"
- Click
on "Load" in the actions entry box.
- Click
on the "Set Default" button.
- Click
on the "Choose Icon" button at the top of
the dialog. This will display a dialog box.
If this dialog box has more than three icons,
click the "Browse" button and find the ViSta
executable. Now you should see three icons.
Choose the icon you like the best. Click
OK.
- Click
OK.
- Close
the Folder Options dialog box.
You
have now configured Microsoft Windows to recognize
ViSta applets.
Use
the ViSta Applet
If
you have enough memory to run your browser and
ViSta at the same time (about 16 MBytes), you
should now be able to click on any ViSta
applet button and have the applet download and
automatically run ViSta. Try this ViSta
Applet test. It should run ViSta and display
a message saying it worked correctly. If the file
is displayed within the browser, and ViSta isn't
run, try configuring again. |
