Faculty of Geography and History

It was taught by the deputy director for conservation, restoration and research IVC+R  and Museu de la Seda (Silk Museum) in Moncada on the 16 May.

This workshop carries out a practical workshop about preventive silk and textiles conservation. The materials used have been the textile collections in Museu de la Seda in Moncada, to explain the different typologies and its peculiarities. Ideas about the preventive conservation and handling of items, manufacture of exposition stands and storage have been given. Also some notions about material concepts and procedures applicable to real pieces have been given. The workshop was given by María José Cordón González, textile restorer of the IVC+R and Arabella León Muñoz, curator of Museu de la Seda (Silk Museum) in Moncada. Given the success of the call, the workshop will be repeated on Monday 23rd May 2016, in the Art Laboratory of the Faculty of Geography and History - Universitat de València from 16h to 20h.
