Symposium on the Limits of Virtual Teams

In the course of the following symposium, the best papers will be published by eJOV.

Theme fo the symposium: What are the limits of virtual working?
Any proposal for a paper that deals with success conditions for virtual work is welcome. By full (extreme) virtuality we mean: no face-to-face contact for performing a common task. This implies usually geographical dispersion and use of electronic communication tools.

This is a symposium on issues of virtual cooperation and virtual teams. In November 2006 we organize this symposium with three purposes:

  1. Discussing papers on virtuality research, as a further step towards building a community of virtuality researchers
  2. Presenting results of the first stage of a research project "Extreme Virtuality" (see below)
  3. Discussing practical implications with representatives of companies and employee organizations

Sponsored by the Swedish Saltsa organization, the workgroup for 'Mobile Virtual Work' has coordinated and performed several studies in the area of MVW. One of the products has been a book with the title "Mobile Virtual Work - A new paradigm?" edited by J.H.Erik Andriessen and Matti Vartiainen.
