Promoting Humanitarian Cooperation of Work and Organizational Psychology
Humanitarian Work Psychology (HWP) is an area of Work and Organizational (W&O) Psychology that involves researching and applying W&O Psychology in humanitarian areas (e.g., poverty reduction, disaster relief and recovery, etc.; Thompson, 2009a, 2009b). So far we have done the following activities to promote this emerging field in our discipline:
- Disseminating HWP documents to promote and encourage this field of WOP
- Humanitarian Work Psychology: Examining Work and Organizational Psychology’s Role in Global Poverty Reduction (published in December 2009 issue of the Division Newsletter)
- Organizational Psychology’s Role in Poverty Reduction (published in the IAAP Bulletin, Issue 4, Volume 21)
- Creating a Division 1 Task Force on HWP (read more)
