Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 is configured for ViSta applets as follows:

  1. From "My Computer" choose the "View" menu's "Folder Options" item. This displays the "Folder Options" dialog box.
  2. Click the "File Types" tab.
  3. Click on the "New Type" button. This displays the "Add New File Type" dialog box.
  4. Enter the following information in the first three fields:
    • Description: XLispStat ViSta Applets
    • Associated Extensions: xli
    • MIME Type: application/x-xlispstat
  5. Below "Actions" box click "New". In the "New Action" dialog:
    • Type "Load" (no quotes) in the Action box.
    • Browse for the ViSta application.
    • Click "OK"
  6. Click "OK in the File Types dialog.
  7. Click "OK" in the "Configure File Type" dialog box.
  8. Click "OK" in the "Options" dialog and in the remaining dialog boxes.
You have now configured Internet Explorer to recognize ViSta applets having the .xli extension. Repeat these steps for .fsl files, replacing .xli with .fsl.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 is configured for ViSta applets as follows:

  1. Choose "Options" item from the "Edit" menu. This displays the "Options" dialog box.
  2. Click on the "Helpers" tab.
  3. Click on the "Add" button. This displays the "Configure File Type" dialog box.
  4. Enter the following information in the first three fields:
    • Description: XLispStat ViSta Applets
    • MIME Type: application/x-xlispstat
    • Suffixes: xli
  5. For "Encoding": Click on the "Text" radio button.
  6. For "How to Handle": Choose the "Use a Helper Application" item.
  7. Click on the "Choose" button and use the dialog box to locate the ViSta (or XLispStat) executable.
  8. After finding the executable, click on the "Select" button to choose the executable.
  9. Click "OK" in the "Configure File Type" dialog box.
  10. Click "OK" in the "Options" dialog.
You have now configured Internet Explorer to recognize ViSta applets having the .xli extension. Repeat these steps for .fsl files, replacing .xli with .fsl.
