INTRODUCCIÓN

El primer número de ANGLOGERMANICA ONLINE recoge colaboraciones sobre algunos de los aspectos que más interés despiertan actualmente tanto en la filología alemana como en la inglesa.

Dos de los artículos tratan sobre adquisición de la pronunciación inglesa. Barry Pennock se ocupa de aspectos generales en el aprendizaje de la pronunciación del inglés por parte de estudiantes que parten del español como lengua materna; Juan Antonio Cutillas Espinosa discute el concepto clave de ‘sonoridad’ a partir de una investigación concreta y los datos obtenidos en ella.

En el terreno de la didáctica de lenguas extranjeras tenemos dos contribuciones: Eberhard Klein revisa los distintos métodos utilizados en la didáctica del inglés, mientras que Eva-Maria Willkop hace un balance de la situación actual en el campo del alemán como lengua extranjera.

En el ámbito de la semántica del inglés Ricardo Mairal aborda la pertinencia del uso de patrones léxicos (lexical templates) a la hora de racionalizar la descripción del significado verbal. Dentro de la semántica inglesa se mueve también la propuesta de José Manuel Martín Morillas para mejorar la descripción del léxico específico de las emociones aplicando conceptos procedentes también de la lingüística cognitiva.

Dirk Hofmann nos presenta algunas de las posibles aplicaciones de la informática al estudio de la fraseología alemana y, por último, Maria Thurmair reflexiona sobre la especificidad cultural de los nombres propios.

Los editores queremos agradecer sinceramente la generosa colaboración y la disposición demostrada tanto por los autores como por los miembros del consejo de redacción y del comité asesor científico.

INTRODUCTION

This first issue of ANGLOGERMANICA ONLINE presents contributions which focus on some of the most interesting and debated questions among English and German philologists.

Two articles analyse the insights of the acquisition processes working at the level of the sounds of the English language. Barry Pennock offers a clever outline of the general considerations that must be brought up in discussing the learning of the pronunciation of English by Spanish speakers. Juan Antonio Cutillas Espinosa investigates the problems Spanish speakers face when dealing with the sound feature ‘sonority’, crucial for the explanation of how foreign speakers acquire English syllabic structure.

Two contributions are derived from the field of teaching foreign languages. Eberhard Klein gives a detailed account of the different approaches in teaching the English language, whereas Eva-María Willkop looks through the present situation of German as a foreign language.

Within the field of the semantics of English, Ricardo Mairal discusses the relevance of using lexical templates when rationalising the descriptions of verbal meanings. And José Manuel Martín Morillas makes an attempt to improve the description of the lexicon of emotions by using concepts deriving from cognitive linguistics.

Dirk Hofmann offers some of the possible applications from computing sciences to the study of German phraseology. And, finally, María Thurmair thoughtfully approaches the cultural specificity of proper names.
