Pioneers in action call

Pioneers in Action is an educational program pertaining to the Knowledge and Innovation Community Climate (Climate-KIC) managed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The aim is to create a new generation of specialists, entrepreneurs and senior lawmakers to achieve a low carbon European economy.

The program has published its third call for the exchange of pioneers in the field of six participating European regions: Central Hungary, Lower Silesia (Poland), West Midlands (UK), Hessen (Germany), Emilia Romagna (Italy) and Valencia. At the same time, the entities concerned to welcome pioneers (Host), both regionally and internationally, may submit applications. The deadline for applications is March 29, 2013.
To qualify as a pioneer is imperative to have a college degree or at least two years of work experience in the field of sustainability and climate change and reside in one of the regions involved or related to a member of Climate-KIC. Participants must speak English fluently and be within one of the following categories: tied to an agency related to climate change, to be self-employed in the field or be doctoral or postdoctoral student in a university research center with activities on climate change. In the previous edition was attended by some 170 people.
The pioneers may:

  • Conduct two stays of one month each project to meet low carbon innovation.
  • Participate in workshops to share experiences and mature knowledge of innovation applied to climate change.
  • Take part in activities carried out by European and regional experts in the field of managing the transition to a green economy.
  • Have the opportunity to present their ideas during the annual Festival of Innovation Climate-KIC.

The training will take place in one convenient learning environment so that participants will develop knowledge and exchange experiences on the dynamics of innovation in low carbon technologies. Activities will intersectoral and multidisciplinary perspective, so it will be attended by professionals in various sectors.

Those interested will have the opportunity to see first hand the Pioneers in action during the Information Day organized by the Foundation, which will take place on March 5 at the Palacio de Colomina (c / Almudín, 1) of Valencia. Registration is free, limited to room capacity.
