I am a soil scientist, interested in the basic and applied chemistry and physics of agricultural and forest soils. I have been working for more than ten years in the chemistry and physics of saline, sodic, alkaline, calcareous and gypsiferous soils with the aim of soil conservation against chemical and physical degradation because of salinization and loss of organic matter. I like laboratory work and applying computers, modelling and sensors in novelty and practical ways to gain insight into soil processes. As a consequence of my work I have developed various models which can be downloaded from this website.

Presently I am working on devising sustainable ways of agricultural production in Mediterranean lands by means of improving irrigation, fertilization and soil organic matter management. Modelling and sensors are the main tools I am using to achieve these goals.
