Woody Crop Observatory: Smart, sustainable, and competitive digital farming for farmers, researchers, consumers, and educational community (AGRICULTURE6.0)

The project takes as a baseline 2 main hypotheses: (I) Disruptive technologies such as LPWAN, AI and Big Data can be used to digitalize agriculture, generating a Crop Observatory, which using AI and Big Data can prevent diseases, improve crop quality, and enhance sustainability and profitability of the sector. (II) The generated Crop Observatory will endow Agriculture 6.0 with a further social dimension in a digital society, with new roles on digital agroindustry, tourism invigorating, and raising environmental awareness in urban and rural communities. We identify three overall objectives (OOs), and to ensure the fulfilment of those OO, a series of Specific Objectives (SO) have been defined for each SP (see Table 1):

  • OO 1: Develop the required technologies for sensing, managing and analyzing Big Data from soil, crop, and environment for the Woody Crop Observatory.
  • OO 2: Design and develop a Computing Continuum architecture for intelligent data processing and development of a digital twin framework.
  • OO 3: Establish an Agriculture 6.0 Living Lab to test disruptive technologies in digital agriculture with different sectors of society for boosting the digital transition of woody crops.
