PRACTICAL INFORMATION

How to arrive in Valencia:

By plane:

The international airport of Manises (8 km far from the city centre) has flight connections run by standard and low-fare airlines to all European capitals and many smaller cities. You can reach the city centre by taxi, by tube, or by bus.

A taxi from the airport costs approximately 20 euros (including the extra fee for service from the airport).

There is underground service from the airport to the city: lines 3 (red) and 5 (green). Both lines follow the same route until the city centre (Xátiva and Colón stations). A single ticket airport-city costs 1.90 euros and a go-return ticket costs 3.30 euros (only valid for next-day returns). The underground runs from 5:29 to 23:59 h during the week, on Saturdays from 6:08 to 23:48 h, and on Sundays from 7:28 to 23:43 h.

A bus service, called AERO-BUS, is also available departing every 20 minutes from 6.00 to 22:00. The fare is approximately 2.50 euros. The nearest stop to the city centre is Bailén street, close to the main train station (Norte Station).

By train:

RENFE is the name of the spanish train network. There are frequent daily connections to Madrid and Barcelona (every 1-2 hours) that arrive in Valencia at the Norte train station, at the centre of the city. Trains coming from Barcelona stop also at the Cabanyal train station, which is closer to the Conference Hall than the Norte train station.

By car:

Valencia can be reached by motorway from Madrid, Barcelona and Alicante. Coach services run every hour from these cities.

Transport within the city:

You can easily travel around Valencia using the EMT's urban bus and tram-underground transportations. The price of a single ticket is 1.25 euros (bus) and 1.40 euros (tram-underground).

You can download here a map of the tram-underground network to help you to arrive at the "Universidad Politécnica" and the "Tarongers" tram stations, the closest ones to the Renasa Hotel and Galileo-Galilei residence, respectively. From these stations, one can go directly to the beach of the city (Malvarrosa-Las Arenas) which is 3 km far from the University in the southeast direction.

Several buses stop in the vicinity of the Renasa Hotel and the Galileo-Galilei residence coming from different parts of the city. In particular, some of these buses (the 9, 40, 41, and 71 lines) connect the hotels with the city centre (Plaza del Ayuntamiento) and the main Train Station (Estación del Norte). Bus 31 connects the hotels with the Cabanyal train station. An interactive map of all bus lines and their stops can be found here.

Valencia is a quite flat city, which could motivate one to travel around the city by bike. However, it should be advised that, in Valencia, riding a bicycle through the traffic can be considered as a risky business. In spite of this, one can safely ride around the city by bike along the old Turia river bed. The Turia river bed was deviated from its natural path in the 60's and nowadays the old river bed is a garden 8.5 Km long that connects the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias to the Bioparc Valencia zoo, passing very close to the city center. For those interested in hiring a bicycle, this web page can be useful.
