You are working for a Biotech company who wants to start a new project in Guatemala basically to intensify agriculture for poor farmers that can only use minimal inputs in environments which are suffering the results of so many biotic and abiotic stresses. You’re really enthusiastic about the project, which has as one of its aims the introduction of soybean as a mono-culture in the areas. However, farmers in the area and local authorities are a bit reluctant and have their reservations as to the applications of Agricultural Biotechnology. Moreover, you fear that the NGOs working in the area won’t support you because in other Latin American countries such as Paraguay, it has been reported that farmers and their families are suffering from pesticide-related diseases because of their soy crops.

It is your task to write a letter where you state your position and support the company’s policy with convincing arguments highlighting the benefits that the farmers will obtain by embracing certain agricultural practices.
