La campanya electoral de la candidata al rectorat es desplaça al Campus d’Ontinyent

The groups of the Ontinyent Campus thanked the commitment made during the last few years. They also expressed their needs and suggestions for improving the education and university life quality on the campus.

Last Friday, the Ontinyent Campus hosted the meeting between the university community of this campus and the candidate Mavi Mestre’s team. The meeting, which was attended by representatives of the student body, administration and services staff and teaching and research staff, took the form of an informal conversation in which the participants expressed their concerns to the team and some proposals for improvement were considered.

The students expressed the need to review the range of optional subjects offered in the different degrees, which in some cases is insufficient and unattractive. In this sense, the team undertook to study this offer with those in charge of the degree programmes. The possibility was also raised that these subjects could be taught synchronously with the students of the campuses located in the city of Valencia.

The students were grateful for the recent installation of microwaves, but demanded the need to increase the communal areas. In this sense, the reopening of the dining room and the common areas for teamwork, which had been closed as a result of the health measures imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, was announced.

The need to bring various activities closer to the campus was also claimed. Culture, employment forums, language courses, among others, were some of the needs that the students expressed to the team. Given that some of these initiatives are already available to the university community of the Ontinyent Campus, there was a need to improve the information channels by holding meetings and setting up stands to provide information about all the services and activities already offered by the University.

For their part, the Teaching and Research Staff thanked the stabilisation work that has been done in recent years and the commitment to the campus located in the Vall d'Albaida, but recalled the need to improve the working conditions that go through the signing of the collective agreement. Mavi Mestre told them that she continued and will continue to demand that the Generalitat sign and approve the text agreed in 2018.

Mavi Mestre explained to the attendees the firm commitment of her project to the Ontinyent Campus. Examples of this are the new degrees that have been launched in recent years and the forthcoming expansion of the training offer with the Official Master's Degree in General Health Psychology, which is awaiting the approval of the ANECA.

The visit to the Ontinyent Campus was used as an opportunity to sign the transfer by the City Council of two plots on which a green area and a recreation area have already been created to improve student coexistence.
