Mentoring program

Our mentoring program

In an effort to strengthen collaboration, knowledge exchange, and academic growth within our research community, a new Research Mentoring Program has been launched. The initiative connects researchers at different stages of their academic careers, ensuring that experience, guidance, and motivation flow seamlessly across generations of scholars.

The program is structured around four clearly defined categories that represent the typical progression of a researcher’s career:

  • Early-Stage Doctoral Researchers (1st–2nd year of PhD studies) Participants in this group are beginning their journey into research. They are developing foundational skills, exploring their research topics, and learning the methodologies that will underpin their doctoral work.

  • Advanced Doctoral Researchers (3rd–4th year of PhD studies) These researchers are immersed in producing results, publishing their findings, and refining their dissertations. They possess valuable insights about navigating the challenges of doctoral studies and can provide first-hand guidance to those just starting out.

  • Postdoctoral Researchers (Postdocs and junior faculty) In this stage, researchers are consolidating their expertise and gaining independence. They are well positioned to mentor advanced PhD students, sharing strategies for publishing, securing funding, and building professional networks.

  • Established Researchers (Associate or full professors) With extensive experience and academic leadership, established researchers mentor postdocs and junior academics. Their guidance focuses on career development, project leadership, and long-term research vision.

This tiered mentoring structure ensures that each participant both receives and provides mentorship:

  • Early-stage doctoral researchers are mentored by advanced doctoral researchers.

  • Advanced doctoral researchers receive support from postdoctoral researchers.

  • Postdoctoral researchers are guided by established researchers.

Through this cascading model, the program creates a continuous learning ecosystem where everyone benefits — fostering collaboration, skill development, and a stronger sense of community across the institution.

This Mentoring program is carried out in collaboration with Interdinamiza UV.

How to join the mentoring program?

Whether you are an experienced researcher eager to share your knowledge as a mentor, or a researcher seeking guidance and inspiration from others, we invite you to join our growing mentoring community.Read more to learn how to:

I want to become a mentee

If you want to become a mentee, fill up the following survey. This survey allows you to post a mentorship request on our website and find a potential mentor who can help you. All requests are posted anonymously to make the information more accessible and to encourage more people to join our program.

Your request will appear on our website, where potential mentors can view it and offer their support. Once a mentor expresses interest, we will share their contact information with you.
