The Defence Economics, Cybersecurity and Protection (EDCP) research group at the University of Valencia has been awarded a grant by the General Secretariat for Defence Policy, within the framework of its annual programme of funding aimed at promoting a culture of defence.

Each year, the General Secretariat for Defence Policy launches a competitive grant programme to support activities designed to foster and disseminate a culture of defence. These grants aim to promote understanding of Defence as an essential element in ensuring the security and well-being of Spain and its citizens, encouraging Spanish society to become familiar with, value, and identify with its history and with the collective effort through which the Armed Forces safeguard national interests.

The awarding of this grant represents institutional recognition of the EDCP group’s track record and research orientation, focused on the economic analysis of defence, cybersecurity, and protection against emerging threats. The funded project will make it possible to promote new research and academic outreach activities, strengthening the transfer of knowledge to society and contributing to an informed debate on the current challenges of National Security.

Furthermore, this funding will facilitate the organisation of conferences, seminars, and other dissemination activities that integrate economic, technological, and strategic perspectives, in line with the group’s objectives and with the priorities established in the field of defence policy.

The EDCP research group values very positively the awarding of this grant, which reinforces its commitment to academic excellence and to the promotion of a culture of defence based on rigorous analysis, an interdisciplinary approach, and a strong sense of public service.
