Predoctoral position: Pre-Application

Optical and chemical control of membranes, peptides and proteins.

We look for a competitive candidate to apply for a 4-year predoctoral contract founded by the Spanish Government (PFU program).

We offer: We will provide a research contract to the candidate we select to join our group for the time needed while the call is being resolved.

Dates: The call of the PFU program will officially be open on January 17th 2024 and close on February 15th. Inquires can already be sent (see details in Application Procedure)..
Deadline: February 5th 2024.

  • Eligibility: Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:
    • Hold a University degree/bachelor obtained after the 1st of January of 2019 for studies of 180 ECTS, or after the 1st of January of 2020 for studies of 240 ECTS.
    • The degree/bachelor must be in science (Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology, etc), with an average degree mark above 8.2. For degrees issued from non-Spanish Universities you will need to apply for an equivalent mark: See https://universidades.sede.gob.es/pagina/index/directorio/Equivalencia_notas_medias/language/en.
    • Hold a master’s degree (or being conducting one), ready to enroll in a PhD program from the Universitat de València in the course 2024-25.
    • Should not Hold a PhD or have enjoyed a predoctoral contract for more than 2 months
  • Profile: Graduate in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology or any other molecular science, with an interest in Biophysics

The Application will open on the 17th of January 2024. We will support an applicant with adequate background and high chances to obtain the fellowship, providing a contract while the call is being resolved.

PostDoc

Juan de la Cierva

These are 3 years postdoctoral contracts to work in a Spain for young doctors who have already spent ~2 years in a previous (different) postoctoral stay (preferably abroad). The candidates can be of any nationality. The host institution must be involved in the application procedure, so, please contact us if you would like to join our group via this funding. We will consider your case and eventually support your application.

Funding: Spanish Government.

EMBO Long-Term fellowships

These fellowships are awarded for up to 2 years. The candidates can be of any nationality but the country of the host institution must be different from the country where the applicant obtained PhD or worked in the latest 6 months (see details in the information provided via the link below).

Funding: EMBO.

Call State: This call is open permanently. Applications can be submitted throughout the year. For the Spring Selection Round applications must be submitted before the 2nd Friday of February. CIAPOS - Valencian Government PostDoc felloships

These are special postdoctoral contracts for young doctors to work in a foreign group but in close collaboration with a group based in the Valencian Autonomous Region. We are willing to consider your case if you want to use this funding opportunity to organize your postdoc.

'La Caixa' Junior Leader fellowships

The Postdoctoral Junior Leader fellowships programme is a 3-year contract for excellent scientists of any nationality. There are two different frames, both suitable to perform research in our institute: Incoming, addressed to centres accredited with the Spanish Seal of Excellence and Retaining, for any research domain and research center in Spain.

HFSP Long-Term and Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships

The HFSP fellowship program supports proposals for frontier, potentially transformative research in life sciences. Applications for high-risk interdisciplinary projects are particularly encouraged. The projects should challenge existing paradigms, using novel approaches and techniques, and should address an important problem or a barrier to progress in the field.
Long-Term Fellowships – LTF are for biologist doctors who want to continue in life sciences with a novel projet. Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships – CDF are for doctors in either physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or computer sciences who want to begin a new project in life sciences.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – MSCA

These are Postdoctoral fellowships for experienced researchers that last for 1 – 2 years. The candidates can be researchers of any nationality moving within Europe, as well as those coming in from other parts of the world.

PreDoc / PhD

Ayudas para la formación de profesorado universitario - FPU

FPU is a competitive programme for young scientists who want to perform a PhD with a perspective towards a future position at the University. The research activities must be combined with some teaching, which for members of our group will be performed at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

CIACIF – Valencian Government PhD felloships

These are 3-years fellowships to make a PhD thesis. Candidates must be registered in a doctorate programme in a Valencian University. They can be of any nationality, but those from countries outside the EU must have a residence permit to work or study in Spain.

'La Caixa' doctoral fellowship programme - INPhINIT

INPhINIT 'la Caixa' is a 3-year contract to attract talented early-stage researchers of any nationality. It is divided into two different frames, both suitable to do a PhD in our institute: Incoming, addressed to STEM disciplines and centres accredited with the Spanish Seal of Excellence and Retaining, for any research domain and research center in Spain.

These fellowships are part of the Talent Attraction subpreogramme of the VLC/CAMPUS alliance. They offer 4-years predoctoral contracts plus some support for research stays in other labs.

Short-Term Visits

FEBS Short-Term fellowships

FEBS Short-Term Fellowships are for short-term visits (no longer than two or, in exceptional cases, three months), for the purpose of scientific collaboration, advanced training or employing techniques not available at the usual place of work. Applicants can be either postdocs or PhD students but need to be members of a FEBS Constituent Society, to be working in a laboratory in a FEBS country and to be seeking to work in a laboratory in a different FEBS country.

FEBS Collaborative Developmental Scholarships

Collaborative Developmental Scholarships - CDS are exclusively for PhD students working in Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Morocco, Serbia, Tunisia or Ukraine who need to visit a well-funded laboratory elsewhere in Europe for the purpose of carrying out experimental procedures that would be impossible in their home country. Applicants need to be members of a FEBS Constituent Society

Becas de colaboración

If you are undergraduate or master's student with an excellent academic record and will be next course in the last year of your degree (related to Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Physics) at the University of Valencia you should consider the part-time scholarships offered by the Spanish Government. Visiting / Erasmus students

If you are undergraduate student with an excellent academic record, in a degree related to Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Physics, and would like to spend a stay in our University, you should consider our group for an internship. Your stay should be at least three months and the schedule of your studies should allow you to spend enough time in the lab to complete a small research project.
