Miguel Garcia-Pineda was born in Benissa, Alicante (Spain). He received his M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering in 2007 and a Master's Degree in Communications Technologies, Systems and Networks in 2008 at Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (Valencia, SPAIN). He finished his Ph.D. dissertation called “A group-based architecture and protocol for wireless sensor networks” in March of 2013 with cum laude honor in the Department of Communications at the same university. This Ph.D. dissertation received the Outstanding Doctorate Award in june of 2014. M. Garcia was awarded with a competitive 4-years grant founded by the UPV for funding his Ph.D. He was working as a researcher for more than 5 years in Research Institute for Integrated Management of Coastal Areas (IGIC) in the Higher Polytechnic School of Gandia, Spain.
Since September 2013, he has been an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department of the School of Engineering at Universitat de València, where he is also a research fellow. His work is focused on the topic of computer networks, specially in wireless networks, multimedia networks, software define networks and cloud computing, where Dr. Garcia has more than 120 scientific papers published in international conferences and more than 50 papers published in international journals (most of them included in Journal Citation Report). His papers have reached more than 1000 references.
He has been a Cisco Certified Network Associate Instructor since 2007 at Cisco Academy-Universitat de Valencia. Moreover, Miguel has several educational papers and he is member of Research Group in Collaborative, Cooperative and Competitive Teaching Methodologies, where he is involved in several educacional research projects. Dr. Garcia has been technical committee member in several conferences and journals, also he has been in the organization committee of several conferences. He is associate editor and reviewer of several internacional journals.
