Biografia

Llicenciat en Ciències Físiques per la Universitat de València (1989). Va començar la seua carrera investigadora en 1991 com a becari de F.P.I., realitzant diverses estades predoctorals en el Groupe de Physique des Solides (GPS) de la Universitat Paris VI-VII, aconseguint el títol de Doctor en Ciències Físiques per la Universitat de València en 1995, amb una Tesi Doctoral titulada “Preparació i caracterització de capes primes superconductores del sistema Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O”. Posteriorment va realitzar una estada postdoctoral de dos anys (1996 -1997) en el sincrotró LURE, Université Paris-Sud, Orsay (França), finançada amb una beca del Ministeri d'Educació i Ciència. En esta estada va reorientar la investigació cap a les tècniques d'alta pressió i alta temperatura (en mesures estructurals, vibracionals, òptiques i de transport), per a l'estudi de semiconductors i òxids sota pressió. Va ser Professor Ajudant entre 1993 i 1998, Professor Associat entre 1998 i 2000 i a partir de 2000 és Professor Titular en el Departament de Física Aplicada i Electromagnetisme de la Universitat de València. Compta amb 6 quinquennis de docència.

Ha publicat 80 articles en revistes indexades (50 en el Q1) amb 2333 cites, una mitjana de cites/any de 141 i un índex h de 28. Ha participat en 85 comunicacions a congressos. Compta amb 5 sexennis d'investigació.

Ha participat com a investigador de l'equip d'investigació en 18 projectes d'investigació finançats, entre els quals cal destacar un projecte CONSOLIDER Ingenio 2010 (MALTA, Matèria a Alta Pressió) i 3 projectes PROMETEO de la Generalitat Valenciana (Materials Avançats per a tecnologies verdes, GREENMAT). A més, ha desenvolupat com a Investigador Principal 5 projectes d'investigació del Pla Nacional d'I+D+i (4 d'ells com a investigador coordinador de projecte coordinat), i té una llarga experiència (quasi 30 anys) com a usuari en instal·lacions de radiació sincrotró europees (LURE, ESRF, DIAMOND, SOLEIL i ALBA), principalment en tècniques de difracció de rajos X. Un dels objectius més rellevants del treball d'investigació que desenrotlla en l'actualitat és la síntesi sota altes pressions i altes temperatures de noves fases de materials amb aplicacions tecnològiques d'interés en diversos camps. Per a això ha dissenyat i muntat un sistema d'alta pressió i alta temperatura, usant una premsa de gran volum Paris-Edimburg, amb control automàtic tant de la pressió com de la temperatura.

Quant a activitats de formació, ha codirigit una Tesi Doctoral, 3 Treballs fi de grau i dos Treballs Fi de Màster. Ha participat en 4 edicions de l'Escola Espanyola d'Altes Pressions (2 a València, 1 en La Laguna i 1 a Oviedo), dirigida a estudiants de doctorat. També ha participat en tres edicions (2018, 2019 i 2022) del Curs d'Introducció a la Ciència de Materials, organitzat en l'Institut de Ciència de Materials de la Universitat de València (ICMUV) per a estudiants de tercer i quart de Grau en Física i Grau en Química. També ha participat en 7 tribunals de Tesis Doctorals (4 d'ells en Sorbonne Université de París).

Ha participat en l'organització de dos congressos: XLVI EHPRG Meeting, València (2008) (Internacional) i V Reunió Nacional de l'Associació d'Usuaris de Radiació Sincrotró d'Espanya (AUSE), València (2011).

Ha tingut també diverses responsabilitats de gestió acadèmica. Va ser secretari del Departament de Física Aplicada i Electromagnetisme durant 6 anys (2005-2011) i va exercir la direcció del mateix departament durant 6 anys (2011-2017). També ha sigut coordinador del Doble Grau en Física i Matemàtiques (2020-2024) i coordinador de mobilitat d'esta doble titulació (2021-2024). Des d'abril de 2024 és secretari de la Facultat de Física.
