Dr. Irene Comeig is an Associate Professor of Finance (tenured) at the University of Valencia (Spain), Research Fellow at Harvard University (Women and Public Policy Program, Harvard Kennedy School; and Real Colegio Complutense Harvard), and a member of Veconlab at the University of Virginia, where she taught Corporate Finance as a Visiting Professor (2012–2015). She has also been a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Lausanne (Fall 2022) and Geneva (2007–2010). Her PhD received the Young Research Award in Economics (Complutense University of Madrid) and the Víctor Mendoza Award for PhD Theses, 1st accésit (Institute of Economic Studies, IEE, Spain).
Her research spans Behavioral Finance, Experimental Economics, SME Finance, and Risk Attitudes, using economic experiments to study decisions under risk and ambiguity. Recent work focuses on improving financing for women‑led ventures and integrating upside/downside risk behavior into insurance and entrepreneurial funding design.
Dr. Comeig serves on editorial boards at Journal of Economics and Finance, and Retos Revista de Ciencias de Administración y Economía; and has held roles at the Journal of Business Research, the European Journal of Management and Business Economics, and the Journal of Innovation & Knowledge. She directed the Official Master's in Corporate Finance for over seven years, has supervised 4 PhD dissertations (one with the Prize for best doctorate student) and 20+ Master's Theses, presented at 100+ conferences, and participated in 18+ research projects, including as PI on INNACC00/2020/40 and INNACC00/19/054 funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.
