Approach

The approach of the ENTPB meets both transnational and interdisciplinary considerations about the problems involved with revitalizing biographic studies. Also, about the problems concerning the need of common and stable reflection which will allow Spanish researchers to collaborate within international networks, according to the strategic goals of the current National Plan.

The ENTPB was set up and chaired by prof. Isabel Burdiel, and sponsored by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (Spanish Government, HAR-2008-03428) between 2009 and 2014. Since 2015, Mónica Bolufer and Mónica Burguera have been its convenors.

Goals

The goal of the ENTPB is to create an international and interdisciplinary forum to allow reflection about theoretical and methodological problems regarding biographic writing and research. This main goal means at least three complementary working directions:
1º) Identifying specific problems regarding biographic research, considering the historiographical renewal that has taken place during the last decades.
2º) Discussing the analytic potential of biographic point of view for the general historiography.
3º) Considering the transnational and interdisciplinary bias that has influenced the western european renewal of biographic research.
