María Elena Díaz, PhD

She was born in Albacete (Spain) in 1969. She received her M.Sc.D and Ph.D in Physics from University of Valencia in 1992 and 1997, respectively. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Science Department at University of Valencia (Spain). In 2000 she held a postdoctoral fellowship at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg (Germany). Her research interests include biomedical image processing, motion analysis, feature extraction, shape analysis, mathematical morphology and applications of stochastic geometry in computer vision. From 2003 to 2007, she got a grant of Human Frontier Science Organization for developing novel imaging, analysis and modelling of exocytosis and endocytosis, as co-principal investigator.
Guillermo Ayala, PhD

He was born in Cartagena (Spain) in 1962. He graduated in Mathematics (1985) and received his Ph.D in Statistics (1988), both from University of Valencia. He is currently Reader at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at University of Valencia, Spain. His research interests are in the areas of biomedical image analysis and applications of stochastic geometry in computer vision.

She received her M.Sc. Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from
Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) in 1995 and her M.Sc Degree
in Statistics & Finance from CEMFI (Spain) in 1997. She received her
Ph.D in Statistics & Computer Sciences by the University of Valencia
(Spain) in 2010. She is currently assistant professor at the Statistics Department
of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). She worked for
consulting services enterprises and the banking industry from 1997 to 2003
and from 2005 to 2012. In 2003, she got a Predoctoral fellowship from the Human
Frontier Science Organization for developing novel imaging, analysis
and modelling of exocytosis and endocytosis. Her research interests
include biomedical image processing, mathematical morphology and
stochastic geometry.
