Mass spectrometry

Information for users

The technical staff of the section of mass spectrometry, at all times, provides advice to users and operators about the characteristics and benefits of the supplied equipments, as well as the most used introduction and ionisation methods for the analysis of the samples and results obtained.

A) Restricted Mass Spectrometer: QTOF, GCTPremier, ion traps and triple quadrupole

  • Users will request the Central Service for Experimental Research the required measures by means of the online application, ENTREU
  • The measures will be implemented by the technical staff of the Mass Spectrometry Section of the Central Service for Experimental Research in response to the objective of the operation of the Service that is fair to the vast majority of users.
  • As a guideline, it should be noted that the implementation of the measures will be made in consideration of the following criteria:
    • Date of receipt of the request.
    • Type of technique of requested ionisation.
    • Reasoned measurement urgency: particularly unstable compounds that require special storage conditions.

B) Open Mass Spectrometer in the office hours of the technical staff: GC-MS (low resolution).

  • The open access equipment will be used both by the service staff and, essentially, by authorised and experienced operators in their use. Each operator's learning is carried out during the use.
  • Operators Instruction is done by an experienced operator or alternatively by the technical staff of the mass spectrometry section, through the regular teaching of learning courses and handling of the equipment.
