Dr. Miguel V. Andrés holds a degree in Physics and a PhD from the University of Valencia. He completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. In 1987, he returned to Valencia and created the Optical Fibers Laboratory. His research focuses on new light sources and lasers, sensors, optical microcavities, and optomechanics. He has published more than 300 articles, which have been cited 7,000 times, and holds 11 patents. His projects with companies and his collaborations with Latin America are particularly noteworthy. He is currently Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Valencia.[Biography, english version]
