Sergio Belda Miquel is PhD in Local Development and International Cooperation (PhD Extraordinaru Award and international PhD mencion). MSc in International Development, Degree in Social Work and Degree in Architecture.

Is associate professor at the Department of Social Work and Social Services, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of València. Previously, he has been assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics of the same University, lecturer at the Universitat Politècnica de València and researcher at the Institute on Innovation Management - INGENIO (CSIC-Universitat Politècnica de València)

His areas of specialization are: global development and international cooperation; transformative learning; transitions to sustainability; community participation and social innovation; ecosocial Social Work.

In these areas he has published numerous articles, book chapters and books. He has participated in regional, national and international (H2020, Erasmus +) research projects. He has coordinated and participated in numerous consultancy and research contracts with entities and public administrations such as Valencian Association of Social Workers, the Valencian Solidarity Fund, the Valencia City Council and the Valencian regional Government (for example, analysis of cooperation policies or development education strategies). He periodically carries out outreach activities in collaboration with social organizations and public institutions.

He develops innovation and coordination activities in teaching (coordination of innovation projects and coordination of undergraduate courses, among others).

He has carried out research stays at the University of Oslo (Norway), the University of Sussex (Brighton, United Kingdom) and the Universitat Javeriana of Bogotá (Colombia).

He is director of the Research Group on action for transformatory ecosocial change - InterCanvi (GIUV2023-549).

He is Rector’s Delegate for Sustainability.
