Irene Guzmán-Alcón has published the monograph CLIL and Multilingual Writing in Primary Education with the international academic publisher Peter Lang. The monograph examines primary students’ writing in English, Spanish and Catalan in multilingual primary education contexts.
The book examines multilingual primary education through the lens of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), with particular attention to the development of writing in English, Spanish and Catalan. Drawing on research conducted in the Valencian Community, the monograph explores how the intensity of CLIL programmes influences students’ writing development across languages. The study also considers the role of individual and contextual factors, including language attitudes, home language use and exposure to English outside school. In doing so, the book provides an integrated perspective on the different factors involved in the development of multilingual writing. The monograph combines empirical evidence with pedagogical implications and highlights the importance of adopting a multilingual perspective on writing instruction and the implementation of CLIL programmes.
