The university community, and the general public, enjoyed a great show with the traditional Match of Benvinguda a la Universitat de València (Welcome to the UV), which was played in the ‘cathedral’ of pilota, the Trinquet Pelayo de València.
One more year the Universitat de València supports the presence of Valencian pilota in the different activities carried out to welcome the new academic year. On this occasion, two days were organised.
The first was on 20 October, a session focused on the promotion of promising young players. Félix II and Enric played against Xavi, Andrés and Diego. Followed by Héctor and Efrén, who played against Pablo and Javi C.
On Saturday 22, the second part of the Benvinguda a la UV was held, with the top figures of the current pilota. The first game started at 4:30 p.m. and ended with the victory of Capellino and Álvaro, who managed to beat Joan and Carlos with a final score of 60-25. In the second game, which began at 6:00 p.m., De la Vega and Nacho won 60-50 against J. Salvador, Javi and Carlos.
The activity was part of the Benvinguda a la UV events for the academic year 2022-2023, and was organised by UVesports and the Foundation of the Valencian Community for Valencian Pilota (FUNPIVAL), with the collaboration of the Municipal Sports Foundation of the València City Council and the Trinquet de Pelayo.
The two days were attended by many members of the university community, since as usual for the Benvinguda games, access was free for students and the administrative and service staff/teaching and research staff of the UV.
