The UV finishes the 4th day of the CADU league with 12 victories and 3 gold medals in the fencing and ping pong individuals

The Universitat de València teams played a great role in this new meeting of the CADU league. They won 12 of the 14 matches played against the UJI. And in the individual competitions Sergi Gómez (ping pong), Ester Estela (Foil fencing) and Carla Mateu (Sabre fencing) won the gold medal.

On Wednesday 8th February, the Autonomous University Sports Championship (CADU) of ping pong took place in the sport facilities of the Universitat de València located in the Blasco Ibáñez Campus. In the female category, the UV representative Carla Hernández achieved the silver medal, the gold was for Marina Ñiguez (UA) and the bronze for Elena Tenzá (UA). In the male category, Sergi Gómez (UV) won a deserved gold. After him were classified Iván Caballero (UCM) -in second position- and Raúl Moreno (UMH) -in third position-. In the general classification by universities, the UV won the gold, the UA won the silver and the UCV won the bronze.

On Thursday 9th February, the fencing autonomous championship also took place in the UV, especially in the Sala de Armas of the Menéndez y Pelayo Sports Hall. The UV athletes did a great performance and achieved a silver in general classification of universities. The gold was for the UPV and the bronze for the UJI.

In the female epee discipline, the Universitat de València student, Ester Benítez, achieved the bronze, tied with María Calvo (UPV). The gold was for María González (UCV) and the silver for Karen Natalia Rodríguez (UA). In the male epee category, the UV representative, Jose Manuel Vilanova achieved the silver. Jorge Sánchez (UPV) won the golden; and the bronze was shared between Daniel Ferrer and Eduardo Romero, both of them of the UPV.

In female foil fencing, the Universitat de València won thanks to the incredible job of Ester Estela (UV) that achieved the gold; Polina Demidova (UPV) was in second place; and in third position Marina Puchol (UV) and Helena Gracia Vidal (UJI) were tied and shared the bronze. In the male category, the victory was for Jose Vicente Lacruz (UPV), the silver was for Nicolás Adrián Molina (UPV) and in third place Andrés Meseguer (UPV) and Nicolás Modu (UJI) were tied.

The sabre modality was the last being disputed. In the female category the victory was for Carla Mateu, student of the Universitat de València. After she was Berta García (UV), who won silver; and Sofía Iglesias (UV) who won bronze. In the male competition, the UV student Darío Plo won bronze, tied with Ignacio Barrios in the same position; the silver was for David Sánchez (UJI) and the gold was for Ángel Ros (UPV).

The UV achieves 12 victories of 14 in the CADU league by teams

The Universitat de València finished the 4th CADU day, celebrated on Thursday 9th February with great sensations. The UV team confronted the Universitat Jaume I (UJI) of Castellón.

The female football team won 8-0 in the Football field of the Blasco Ibáñez Campus. The male team lost to the UJI team with a result of 1-3.

The sports Hall of the UV received the indoor football matches. The guys won with a result of 9-4 to the UJI, and the female team also won with a scoreboard of 4-0.

The basketball competitions took place in the Benimaclet Sports Hall, the UV won in both, the female team (83-32), and the male team (110-49).

The volleyball meetings were in the UJI Sports Hall. Both, the female and the male team of the UV achieved victories with the same results, a conclusive 3-0.

The handball male team won to the UJI 18-33. The handball girls of the Universitat de València did not achieve the victory, they lost 20-23. The meetings took place in the UJI Sports Hall.

The UV rugby teams got a full victory in the facilities field of the Riu Sec Campus in Castellón.  The girls won botch matches (UJI 0 - 45 UV and UV 41 - 0 UJI). The male team also achieved the triumph easily in both matches UJI 0 - 24 UV and UV 45 - 12 UJI).

Finally, paddle tennis and tennis tournaments also ended with victories for the UV teams, which played in the IJU courts. In tennis, the UV achieved a final result of 3-1. The mixed and female couples won their matches in the 2nd set, and the male couple lost in the third set. Therefore, the UV achieved a general victory with a global score of 2-1.

The next appointment of the CADU league will be in Tuesday 21st February and will face the Universitat de València and the Politécnica de València teams. This fifth competition will be the last qualifier before the big final of the CADU, that will take place on 8th March.
