The main objective of the Chair in International Finance - Banco Santander of the University of Valencia is to conduct training, cultural, research and university extension activities oriented towards the continuous improvement of knowledge in the field of international finance. This time, the training activities of the Chair will focus on the existing connections between Finance and Global Warming. Climate change is a global phenomenon with repercussions at international, national and local levels. The restriction on CO2 emission is a fact at the European level that is affecting countries and large businesses that emit polluting gases. Furthermore, it should be noted that other companies and sectors, whose production is linked to climate, are already suffering the effects of climate risk on their balance sheets. This conference will study three specific aspects:
- Analyze the role that climate plays in the risk society in general and economics in particular.
- Investigate the financial risks and opportunities arisen from the restriction on polluting gases.
- Study the different solutions that financial markets can bring to businesses to adapt and/or manage the risk of climate change. For the development of these issues, we have thought of a multidisciplinary team of researchers from different areas (Economics, Law and Physics), as well as professionals from the insurance industry and corporate banking.

X Spanish- Italian Congress on Financial and Actuarial Mathematics
The 10th Spanish-Italian Congress on Financial and Actuarial Mathematics will be held at the Faculty of Economics, Cagliari (Italy) from June 23 to 25, 2008. Since its beginning, the goal of this Congress has been to provide a forum for debate for people interested in Actuarial and Financial Science, academics or professionals. The participation of new research groups is always welcomed. The Congress aims to serve as a vehicle to communicate and make public the results of the research carried out by the participants, in order to promote the collaboration between researchers and universities as well.

The Portuguese Finance Network (PFN) is proud to announce its 5th Finance Conference in Coimbra, Portugal, from July 10 to 12, 2008. The conference is organised by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra.
RESEARCH PAPERS: Authors are invited to participate in the PFN 2008 Finance Conference and submit papers in all areas of finance. These areas include. These areas are: asset pricing, behavioral finance, corporate finance, Corporate Restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, Derivatives, Emerging Markets, Financial Institutions, finance theory, market microstructure, Mathematical finance, capital markets based accounting research and other papers of General interest.
XVI Finance Forum
The 16th Finance Forum will be held in Barcelona on November 13 and 14, 2008. The Forum will take place at the headquarters of ESADE Barcelona.
