On January 26, 2005 the Rd 56/2005 regulating postgraduate studies came into force. Therefore, the Doctoral Studies Committee of the UV of 16/05/05 agreed a set of points.

The RD 56/2005 affects postgraduate students. Students who began doctoral studies prior to this RD will be governed by the previous rules except with regard to court preparation, defence and evaluation of the thesis which will apply to all students six months after of its entry into force.
The Doctoral Studies Committee of the UV of 05.16.2005 agreed the following:
• No theses will be deposited between 26 and 31 July 2005.
• The theses deposited until July 25, 2005 will be governed by RD 778/1998.
• The theses deposited from September 1, 2005 shall be governed by the RD 56/2005.
