By decision of 6 October 2011, the Office of the General Secretariat for Universities, and after a rigorous process of evaluation, the Excellence Mention has been awarded to several doctoral programmes organised by Spanish Universities, among them the Doctoral Studies in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice of the University of Valencia. Only eight Law Doctoral Programmes have obtained this mention in Spain.
